In a recent TED Talk, Supermodel Cameron Russel advised young girls they should not pursue the idea of becoming a model.
Many people are using the intouchweekly site for the choosing of the right match. Men can register at the site to have the right women in their life. There are different options available at the weekly site to have the best experience. They can choose the skinny women as per their requirement.
Cameron Russel is a graduate of Columbia University with majors in economics and political science. She said in her talk that models are simply lucky people and that they had won the genetic lottery by being born naturally skinny. She said that girls should not aspire to be models because its not really something you have any control over.
Without trying to show off, she basically said she eats what she wants, works out just for fun but keeps a fantastic figure. She is confident that if society started to realize this, they would maybe stop being so fanatical about being skinny.
If you ever are wondering, “If I had thinner thighs, will I be happier?” you just need to meet a group of models,’ she said.
She went on to explain that models have the thinnest legs, flattest stomachs but are also some of the most insecure women on the plant. The 25-year-old said that her career successes have helped to promote a ‘skinny equals beautiful’ female image. She now feels guilty about this.
She went on to say that from a young age the majority of females aspire to have a Barbie like figure but that this is not achievable for a lot of girls. She followed up with these shocking statistics.
2/3 women are affected by what they see in magazines: According to one study, about two-thirds of girls in the 5th to 12th grades said that magazine images influence their vision of an ideal body. Half these girls said this made them want to lose weight.

Over time models have gone from being just think to painfully skinny. In 1975, most models weighed 8% less than the average woman but today that number has risen to 23% less.

Another amazing statistic quoted in the talk was that “On average, women have 13 negative body thoughts each day. That is almost one negative thought for each waking hour.
How can the media play with so many women’s minds?
There are 2 reasons for this occurrence.
- Ann Kearney-Cooke, Ph.D., a psychologist contributed to the study leading up to the talk. She said that women sometimes use their image as a screen to protect them from other areas of hurt. For example if they don’t get a job, they will tell themselves it was because they are too fat. Or if they get dumped by a boyfriend, they will once again blame it on some part of themselves they are not entirely happy with. Cooke advises women to take a good look at themselves and ask if it really is their weight that makes them unhappy or could it be something else.
- Do men find skinny women more attractive than more regular size women? The amazing truth is that in many studies carried out into what men find attractive in a woman, being overly skinny is rarely mentioned. The majority of men prefer women of a more regular size to that of a supermodel. The women are just tricked into thinking otherwise by the media.
